Pilot Shrimp Farming Cluster Development Project

Total Cost: Rs.4147.025 Million
Punjab Govt. Share: Rs.2647.025 Million
Farmer share: Rs.1500.000 Million
Gestation period:    60 months (2019-20 to 2023-24)

Interventions

  • Shrimp farm development financial support for 2500 Acres (75:25 on 1st crop and 50:50 on 2nd crop) (Govt. : Framer)
  • Establishment of Saline Water Aquaculture Research Center at Muzaffarghar
  • Value chain development (fish/shrimp  hatcheries (04),  fish/shrimp feed mills (02) & fish/shrimp processing plants(02)
  • Up-gradation of training sub centers Bahawalpur and Rawalpindi

Subsidy Criteria

  • Each farmer will be allotted five or ten acres and total 2500 acres (1250 in 2nd year and 1250 in 4th year of the project)
  • Subsidy of 75 % of the actual total cost of shrimp seed and feed (per acre) or Rs.300,000/acre whichever is less during the first crop/season
  • Similarly, subsidy of 50 % of the actual total cost of shrimp seed and feed (per acre) or Rs.200,000/acre
  • Subsidy will be given to the eligible applicants on first come first serve basis
  • If the applicants are more than the availability of financial assistances then Qura Andazi will be conducted accordingly

Cage Fish Culture Cluster Development Project

Total Cost: 1774.867 Million 
Punjab Govt. Share: Rs. 1474.867 Million
Farmer Share: Rs.300.000 Million
Gestation period:  60 months (2019-20 to 2023-24)

Interventions

  • Establishment of 8 Mobile Fish Health Labs at all divisional H/Q except Sahiwal
  •  Cage development financial support for installation of 5000 cages

Subsidy Criteria

  • Total 5000 number of cages will be installed under this project. Each farmer will be provided 10 or 20 cages (as per his own request)
  • Cages will be allocated on first come first serve basis
  • If the numbers of applicants are more than the availability of cages, then “Qura-Andazi” will be conducted
  • Financial assistance to the selected farmers will be 80 % of actual cost of the cages or Rs. 0.240m per cage whichever less in the form of cage installation is
  • The other operational and maintenance expenditure will be made by the farmer himself
