Overview

Department of Fisheries, Government of the Punjab is responsible for the Conservation, Management and Development of Natural Fisheries resources through the enforcement of Punjab Fisheries Ordinance and Rules, promote Aquaculture practices in private sector to bridge gap of protein deficiency in the diet of common man, provide white meat to improve the health of people, utilize the untapped Fisheries resources to obtain maximum production, increase our share in the national economy.

History

The Department of Fisheries is an attached department of Forestry, Wildlife & Fisheries Department established in 1912. The department is responsible for conservation, management and development of aquatic resources in public and private sectors. The department is governed by the Punjab Fisheries Ordinance, 1961.
